Laura Dziubaniukaura Dziubaniuk is one of Canada's most promising sopranos. She received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance at the University of Ottawa, under the tutelage of the late Joan Maxwell. Ms. Dziubaniuk had won several Vocal Scholarships which led her to further her studies at the Kiev Conservatory (Kiev, Ukraine), the Sixth International Interpretation Courses (Piestany, Slovakia) and the European Mozart Academy (Kraków/Krasków, Poland).

She had also studied under such great artists/ pedagogues, conductors and vocal coaches as: Ella Akritova, Eva Blahová, Sandra Graham, Magdaléna Hajóssyová, Heidi Klassen, Donna Klimoska, Joanne Kolomyjec, Ingemar Korjus, Kerstin Meyer, Peter Mikulás, Konstantin Oxnyevoy, Maria Pellegrini, Louis Quilico, Gary Reylea, Alexander Savtchenko, Charlotte Stewart, Benite Valente and Qiaoyu Wang; Yves Abel, Andrei Bedros, Mario Bernardi, David Currie, Laurence Ewashko, Ermanno Florio, Brian Law, Daniel Lipton, Miklós Takács and Timothy Vernon; Jeannette Aster, Louise-Andrée Baril, Claudette Denys, David Golub, Stuart Hamilton, Greta Kraus, Michael McMahon, Aurele Nicolet, Eric Trudel and Jürg Wyttenbach.

She was a laureate in numerous Scholarships and Canadian Vocal Music Competitions: 1996 EUROPEAN MOZART FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP, 1993 CZECH & SLOVAK MUSIC COMPETITION, 1993 EUGEN SUCHON SCHOLARSHIP, 1993 BRIAN LAW OPERA SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION, 1993 OTTAWA MUSIC CLUB SCHOLARSHIP, in the prestigious 1992 CANADIAN MUSIC COMPETITION'S "International Stepping Stones," FOND DES AMIS DE L'ART, 1992 HARMELODIC MUSIC CLUB SCHOLARSHIP and the UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA'S 1991 CONCERTO COMPETITION.


Presently, she is a member of "Ooh La La Opera!" A newly formed company which showcases artists from the national capital region and beyond in concerts, opera in concert with a "twist," and an unconventional blend of opera and theatre. You can find more information at: www.oohlalaopera.ca

From 2004-06, she was a member of Bytown Opera Works where she performed the roles of Lola (GALLANTRY),
Helene (HIN UND ZURÜCK) and Violetta (LA TRAVIATA).

From 1991-97, she was a member of Opera Lyra Ottawa Associate Artist Program. In this milieu, she had the opportunity to understudy lead roles like: Rosalinda (DIE FLEDERMAUS), Pamina (DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE), Marguerite (FAUST), Mimi/Musetta (LA BOHÈME), Countess/Susanna (LE NOZZE DI FIGARO) and Gilda (RIGOLETTO).

In 1997, she understudied the role of Micaëla (CARMEN) with Opera Ontario, Inc.

In 1995, she was a member of Opera Breva Ottawa. There she performed the roles of Lola (GALLANTRY) and
M'selle Warbelwell (THE IMPRESSARIO).

In 2006, she was a featured soloist in Evelyn Stroobach's CD "Aurora Borealis" and in 1997 for the choir of the church of St. John the Evangelist's CD "Panis Angelicus." In 1993, Ms. Dziubaniuk helped in creating and performing a radio commercial for the Ottawa's Kiwanis Music Festival, called "Opera Woman."

Opera, Oratorio, Concert and Chamber Music performances have taken her through North America and Europe.
Notable among them include: CBC, SRC Jeunes Artistes, Opera Lyra Ottawa, Opera Lyra Ottawa Guild, Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, Thirteen Strings, Bel Canto Wind Quintet, Divertimento Orchestra, National Capital Opera Society, University of Ottawa Choir, Blackburn Chorus, Johannes Brahms Choir; Des Jeunesses Musicales du Canada, Les Jeunes Ambassadurs Lyriques, Philharmonic Society of Montreal, UQAM Choir; Toronto's Ontario Place; Vancouver's Russian Centre; Lancaster Opera House (U.S.A.); Krakow Opera House, Krakow Stu Theatre and Concert Halls (POLAND); Concert Halls in Bratislava and Piestany (SLOVAKIA); Kiev Opera House and Concert Halls (UKRAINE).
